From each tour we lead, a percentage of the proceeds goes towards Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Foundation. We like that this non-profit works a little differently: though inspiring and empowering youth to take action and make a change in their own community. The message is that young people can change the world, and are doing it every day. The values and life skills that Roots & Shoots promotes are what we at Gourmet Food & Wine Tours wish to support and deeply stand behind. Some highlight programs that bring community together though food are: growing backyard and school gardens in the U.S.; raising awareness of the importance of true extra-virgin olive oil production in Spain; and ending hunger through soup kitchen service. Roots & Shoots

Founder of Gourmet Food and Wine Tours, Renée ReBell

When the American Heart Association asked Renee to donate her “Sonoma Food and Wine Tour” for their annual fundraiser, her reply was, “Sure, and I will have to get busy building it!”  Renee added the event to her existing food and wine event website after she and her daughter experienced their very first food tour together in Chicago in March of 2013. At that time, no other walking food tours existed on the Sonoma Plaza and Sonoma Valley Visitor Bureau was very encouraging.

It didn't take long for people to hear about the 3-hour walking/food-and-wine pairing tour that includes some of the the best restaurants and wine in Sonoma. She has been going strong for two years and has recently added, Yountville, Sausalito and Tiburon as other north bay options with the identical concept. All can be found under the official company name, “Gourmet Food and Wine Tours.”

Prior to starting her own company, Renee poured wine from the first tasting room on the Sonoma Plaza, The Sonoma Enoteca (now Pangloss Cellars). Before that, she started her career with Wine.com as a corporate account manager overseeing complex orders. Her favorite was for Oprah’s Harpo Studios when they purchased Champagne for all of the television station managers across the US to say her farewells. Renee has lived in the area and has been frequenting Wine Country for over 25 years. She lives with her youngest of four children and their Pug Tootsie.

Gourmet Food and Wine Tours is associated with The Better Business Bureau, Women for Wine Sense, SF Travel, Sonoma Valley Visitor Bureau, Sonoma County Tourism and the Sonoma Chamber of Commerce, Yountville Chamber of Commerce and CANVAS and Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots, (see more below).
